NITRAIN® 2.0 nitrogen stabilizer is engineered to reduce nitrogen volatilization of urea-based fertilizers. NITRAIN 2.0 reduces volatility by inhibiting the activity of the urease enzyme. Urease is a naturally occurring enzyme in the soil responsible for breaking down urea when moisture and organic matter are present. Up to 40% of nitrogen can be lost to volatilization within hours of application.
